Penang Airport Parking

Disabled Parking at Penang Airport

There are specialized designated parking spaces for disabled passengers and people with reduced mobility (PRM).

Penang Airport parking spaces for PWDs or PRMs near the passenger terminal building. Passengers with reduced mobility can get assistance from the car park to the terminal.

All passengers needing help are advised to contact their airline in advance to arrange this service.

Public Parking at Penang Airport

Public Parking has an open-air car park with 600 parking lanes for customers.

• The parking fee is RM 2.00 per hour in the first 12 hours of the stay
• After 12 hours, the parking rate will change to RM 24.00 for a maximum of 24 hours.

Valet Parking at Penang Airport

A Valet Parking facility at Penang International Airport is made for convenience. It is a fully guarded parking lot with 24-hour security surveillance cameras.

• For the first hour, you will be charged RM 10.00.
• An additional fee of RM 5.00 per hour is charged for overstaying parking guests.
• The parking rate per day costs RM 70.00.

All car parks are located within walking distance of the passenger terminal. Departures from Penang Airport should allow plenty of time for Parking and check-in procedures.

For quick pick-ups or drop-offs in the extended- and short-term parking facilities, passengers are charged RM 0.50 for ten minutes and then RM 1.00 for 30 minutes of Parking. Customers do not have to worry because the airport provides enough parking spaces without having to book parking arrangements in advance.

Note that lost parking tickets cost RM 50.00 on top of the parking fee.

Penang's City Council (MBSP and MBPP) has also been working toward a better, more innovative living by engaging in technological advancements. Recently, they launched Malaysia's first IoT-Enabled Smart Parking System.

IoT-Enabled Smart Parking System is part of Penang's year 2030 vision. Its objective was to improve outdoor parking space utilization, lessen traffic congestion, and enhance the convenience of parking payments for residents.

MBPP & MBSP works on a Smart Parking System with a renowned technological company, HeiTech Padu Berhad. An IoT-enabled surface-mounted sensor is placed in each parking bay, connected to the 0G Network. It transmits data to a dashboard, verifying when a bay is occupied. The dashboard is visible to locals via a smart device app, shows parking availability, and processes payments.

The Smart Parking System works perfectly for every vehicle entering a parking space. The sensor is sensitive enough to detect any vehicle movement and immediately updates the main dashboard via the 0G Network that the area is occupied. The central dashboard is available to citizens via a smartphone application, giving real-time visibility to parking availability at their destination before they depart.
